A Festive Tablescape, No.15 in our series #romancingthehome

This week we decided on a Christmas tablescape, ever since I was a little girl I would love setting the table with my mom. I would run out into the garden cut some of my dad’s precious roses (much to his dislike) and put them in a vase for the table. I just love setting a table. Growing up in a Lebanese household, we live around a table laden with food. This a place where memories are made.

I have to laugh when my little one Luna is walking in her mother’s foot steps. Luna is a flower child, forever in the garden and our house generally has a few plastic cups filled with flowers from our garden. I just laugh and smile…

Living in SA we have the most beautiful weather, especially up here in Johannesburg. Watching the weather closely I thought if the rain holds out I would set the table under our pergola. This entertainment space is literally transformed at night and we don’t often get to enjoy the space. The pergola is covered with white bougainvillaea and fairy light. Perfect for a festive table setting.

In keeping with my Christmas Blush theme, created a country garden centrepiece with blush and apricot tones, using my conifer tree leaves, lambs ear and snap dragons all growing in the garden. I did add a few store-bought roses but I feel that is can lack some character, however, garden arrangements ooze character!

I lay 2  branches of conifer next to the centrepiece facing away from each other and arranged Christmas bauble, pinecones, tealight candles and some blush pink feathers.

Adding a bit of glam to the table I mixed crystal glasses and hand painted glasses. The hand-painted glasses I got from @home on their black Friday sale for R40 each!!! what a find. I love them!

The embroidered tablecloth I used was a gift from my mom, she was given this cloth from one of her old Lebanese friends. A cherished piece that I don’t get to use very often

The charger plate and this one, in particular, are just too beautiful with their gold filigree detail. I had some blush pink napkins made up and for a little bling…seeing as though it is Christmas some beautiful embellished napkin rings all dressed up on a simple white dinner plate.

Gold cutlery tie the gold filagree glasses and charger plate into the whole look!

Seeing as though I was going all out on a table setting and I have very close friends immigrating I used this opportunity to have a farewell dinner and send my friend off in style, this gave all the effort true meaning and I can not put into words how much I am going to miss them.

I loved setting this table and the memories we made!

I also promised to Announce the winner of the Bespoke Gift hamper I ran on FB and IG – stay tuned for me giveaways soon
Congratulations Linda Erasmus, I will be in touch soon!
